Tragic incident—A mother and her four children unfortunately met their untimely death after they were killed in their sleep by unknown gunmen at Benguri, a Subsurb of Binduri District, in the Upper East Region.
According to reports, unknown gunmen without remorse attacked the home of the family in the late hours of the night while they were all asleep.
The incident occurred at night around 8 pm on April 19, 2025.
After gaining access to the house, the gunmen did not waste time in attacking and killing five (5) members of the family of six (6).
The husband and father of the victims narrowly escaped with his life and will now and forever live with the memory of the horrific incident.
The deadly attack is suspected to be in connection with the ongoing chieftaincy dispute in Bawku.

Over the past few weeks, violent attacks in Binduri have been on the rise, with countless people, including police officers, being killed in various parts of the community.
In addressing the violence, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the minister of interior, imposed a curfew on Binduri and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region.

The government urges Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.
Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Binduri Township and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons; men wearing smocks and riding motorbikes; and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
