An abandoned baby was discovered at the Zebilla Market in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region after an unidentified mother reportedly left her behind shops at the Zebilla market.
According to Zebs FM, in an exclusive interview, Awini Gifty, a local businesswoman, recounted the dramatic events that discovered on March 28, 2025, at approximately 7:25 pm.
In a compassionate act, Madam Gifty discovered an abandoned infant in Zebilla Market,
Upon hearing the baby's cries, a customer shopping for groceries alerted others, leading to the baby's retrieval.
Demonstrating remarkable empathy and swift action, Madam Gifty took the infant to the Zebilla District Police Station, where authorities promptly involved the Social Welfare Department.
The baby was then transferred to the Bawku West District Hospital in Zebilla for medical care and monitoring.
This incident has sparked conversations about child welfare and the importance of community vigilance in safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
