Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak reviewed the curfew hours for Walewale in the North East Region.
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has reviewed the curfew hours for Walewale and its environs in the North East Region from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am, effective Monday, March 10, 2025.
The minister acted on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council.
In the statement, the decision indicated that it called on Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
“Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the aforementioned communities and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapon, and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement added.
The Minister for the Interior, Muhammed Muntaka, earlier imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Walewale and its environs with immediate effect.
This is contained in a press release published on the Interior Ministry’s website on February 15.
“The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has imposed a curfew on Walewale and its environs in the North East Region from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, effective Saturday, February 15, 2025,” a part of the earlier press release reads.
“Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Walewale and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons, and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the Interior Minister warned.
