Numerous injured as soldiers accused of brutal assault after vehicle incident in the northeast region (Wale Wale)
Walewale, North East Region, has reportedly sustained severe injuries by armed military personnel following a vehicle fire that resulted in alleged assaults.

The ordeal began when a truck transporting pepper from Bawku to Accra caught fire reportedly due to an electrical fault. Witnesses say the fire attracted the attention of the military, whose subsequent actions raised alarm.
Residents recount harrowing experiences as the military descended on the scene. One eyewitness said:
“We were in town when someone came to tell us to rush home and lock our doors because the soldiers had come and were beating people indiscriminately. They were beating even policemen. We don’t know what we’ve done wrong.”
Another victim shared their experience of being forced to lie on the ground without any explanation:
“They asked me to lie on the ground. I did as they asked, but they kept intimidating me, stepping on me, and asking unnecessary questions. They even destroyed my belongings.”
The shocked and distressed residents are demanding answers and justice for the incident. They have called on the authorities to investigate the matter and hold the soldiers accountable for their actions.
