GES Promotion Exam Results: HR Reveals Date.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has detailed preparations underway to ensure the timely release of the 2024 promotion examination results, expected later this month. Speaking during an interview with Angel FM on November 9, 2024, Madam Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah emphasized the importance of streamlining the process.
“Considering the times we live in, anything can happen. If the results are released as anticipated, we hope that in subsequent years, the process will be expedited to avoid discussions in the media,” she stated. “Additionally, successful candidates should be placed on the appropriate salary scale before the end of December.”
The promotion exams, conducted in August 2024, catered to teachers seeking advancements in rank. Educators aspiring for the position of Assistant Director II sat for their exams on August 20, while those targeting Assistant Director I positions wrote theirs on August 21.
Despite these efforts, some teachers in the Upper West Region expressed dissatisfaction, citing issues of miscommunication. According to reports, candidates were informed via SMS to arrive at their exam centers by 10 a.m., but the exams reportedly commenced an hour earlier, leaving many unable to participate.
The Upper West Regional Chairman of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), Mr. Abdullah, has launched an investigation into the incident to address the grievances.
Salary Negotiations Postponed Until After 2024 Elections
In a separate development, salary negotiations for the 2025 financial year have been deferred until after the 2024 general elections. Labor unions believe negotiations during election years often yield unfavorable outcomes. As a result, discussions with the incoming government will be prioritized to secure better terms for educators.
The promotion exam results are reportedly ready and awaiting final approval for release, which could happen in the coming weeks.
