Akua Donkor's eldest son breaks silence, reveals what killed her.
According to a report by Ghanaweb, the eldest son of Akua Donkor, a prominent political figure in Ghana, Akwasi Baffour, has shared insights regarding the unforeseen circumstances surrounding his mother’s death at the age of 83.
In a telephone interview with GhanaWeb, Akwasi expressed that the family was caught off guard, as they had no prior knowledge of any significant health concerns before her passing.
Akwasi recounted receiving an alarming call at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, October 28, which informed him that his mother had suddenly fallen ill. Concerned relatives in Accra quickly transported her to the Nsawam Government Hospital.
However, due to the critical nature of her condition, she was subsequently referred to Ridge Hospital, also known as the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, for more specialized care.
During his conversation with the attending physician at Ridge Hospital, Akwasi learned that Akua Donkor's condition was dire, and the medical staff was making every effort to stabilize her.
Despite the administration of intravenous fluids and a blood transfusion, her health continued to decline. "They placed two drips and administered blood, hoping that it would help," Akwasi stated. He noted that the family remained hopeful throughout the day as the medical team endeavored to revive her.
Tragically, by 10 p.m. that same evening, the family received the heartbreaking news that Akua Donkor had passed away. The specific cause of death has not yet been revealed. Akwasi remarked that his mother had been in good health during their last meeting three weeks prior, which rendered the news even more shocking.
The death of Akua Donkor, recognized for her forthrightness and dedication to advocating for farmers and women, signifies the conclusion of a distinctive chapter in Ghanaian politics. Citizens across the country are mourning her loss and offering their condolences to her family during this challenging period.
