The Upper West Regional Representative of 2024’s Ghana Most Beautiful Pageant, Hatie Nwadei, has expressed concern over her eviction from the show on September 25, 2024.
In a Facebook post, Hatie Hse published a two-page petition dated 25th of September 2024 and signed by Mr. Songsore Mulumba, the Nadowli District Director of the Center for National Culture.
Hatie indicated that her team is seriously on an agenda to find justice.”
All our concerns are scripted here. My dear people, thank you for holding me this far. My team is seriously on the agenda to find #Justice4Hatie." The petition to TV3 questioned the criteria behind the decision to evict Hatie from the competition.
REJECTION OF RESULTS DISQUALIFYING N-WADEI NANCY HATIE, UPPER WEST GMB REPRESENTATIVE
We write to register our displeasure with what we consider to be a discrepancy in the pronouncement that disqualified our regional contestant N-wadei Nancy Hatie from competing in the finals at this year’s edition of Ghana’s Most Beautiful Pageant.
On the 22nd of September 2024, after Sunday’s round of performances, you passed judgment on the basis of votes cast that Hatie, who ranked 6th on the voting chart, should compete with Awuraa, indicating that “You have until midnight on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to cast your vote.”
Team Hatie complied with this directive to engage Awuraa in this competition regardless of the fact that Awuraa was the obvious contestant to be evicted based on her 7th place ranking on the chart. Further discrepancies were observed during the tie-breaking” voting period, which raised questions about transparency in the selection process.
Hence, we reject the results pronounced and demand answers to the following questions:1. Why did you not make a public declaration that the midnight, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, deadline had been extended to 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024? (Note that as of the first stipulated deadline, which was midnight, Tuesday, September 25, 2024, Hatie’s total votes were 37,580 and Ewuraa’s were 17.500.) 2.
Why was the voting results chart unaccessible (with notification reading “No Data Available”) after Sam this morning and only restored sometime after the declaration at the NEW DAY show? We are by this letter expressing our displeasure looking at the turnout of events.
We are of the view that the results are not a true reflection of the public votes and until the kinks in the process are straightened out, we reject the disqualification of Hatie as a competitor in the finals. Thank you and counting on your urgent response.
Yours Faithfully.
Mulumba N. Songsore
