UE/R: Part of Zebilla flooded after a heavy downpour in Bawku-West District
Zebilla, Bawku-West District in the Upper East Region of Ghana, renowned for its abundance of guinea fowl, has been hit by severe flooding following a heavy downpour that occurred on August 19, 2024. The torrential rain, which lasted several hours, caused widespread flooding, disrupting daily life and damaging property in the district.

Additionally, Sakom, a neighborhood in Zebilla, experienced a pool of water, according to the eyewitness.
The roads and bridges in the area were flooded, making transportation nearly impossible. Many residents were left stranded, and some homes and businesses were destroyed by the floodwaters.
The flooding in Zebilla highlights the ongoing challenges posed by extreme weather events in the region, which are often exacerbated by inadequate expansion of gutters, and local leaders are calling for urgent measures to address these issues to prevent future occurrences.
Residents are advised to stay alert and adhere to safety guidelines issued by the authorities as the situation develops.
