GTEC seeks financial clearance to recruit 2,500 teachers.

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has announced that it is seeking financial clearance from the Ministry of Education to recruit 2,500 teaching staff.

In a statement, GTEC emphasized that this recruitment is intended to alleviate the current academic workload and ensure that academic activities can resume promptly.

On June 14, CETAG declared a statewide walkout in response to the government's refusal to carry out arbitral rulings that had been mutually agreed upon and other conditions of service for its members.

GTEC assured that as soon as the clearance has been granted, it will promptly notify all parties involved in the recruitment procedure in order to guarantee the new staff' prompt deployment.

The Commission and the Honorable Minister of Education are having serious talks about giving GTEC financial permission to recruit about 2,500 more teachers in addition to the current staff. This will allow academic work to commence as soon as possible while we work with CETAG to allay their concerns.

“GTEC will communicate to you the modalities with which this urgent staff recruitment will be expedited as soon as clearance is provided,” the statement read.
