EC announces nomination dates and fees for 2024 elections (Check Out...)

The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to open nominations for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections on Monday, September 9. The nominations will be closed on Friday, September 13.

The Commission stated in a press statement on Thursday, August 1, that nomination forms will be available for download on the EC website effective on Friday, August 2.

GH¢100,000 is the filing fee for presidential candidates; female candidates and candidates with disabilities pay a reduced fee of GH¢75,000. The filing price for parliamentary candidates is GH¢10,000; female candidates and candidates with disabilities can file with a reduced fee of GH¢7,500.

 

“Payment shall be by banker’s draft and addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.”

Nomination forms will be accepted daily between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and again from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the nomination period. 

The EC further stated that all concerns regarding the presidential election should be directed to the chairperson of the EC, and issues relating to the to the parliamentary election should be directed to the constituency return officers. 

 

“All inquiries relating to the presidential election should be addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and the parliamentary elections to the returning officers of the constituencies where the candidates seek election,” it concluded.
