Silas Amoah Foundation Offered Math Set to 690 BECE Candidates in the Upper East Region (Check Out...)

Silas Amoah Foundation Offered Math Set to 690 BECE candidates in the Upper East Region

Mathew Silas Amoah, founder of the Silas Amoah Foundation and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Bolgatanga East constituency, has donated mathematical sets and pens to all candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Bolgatanga East District in the Upper East Region.

In addition to the supplies, Mr. Amoah provided each of the 690 candidates from 17 junior high schools in the district with 10 cedis to support their feeding before the exams, which commence on Monday, July 8, 2024.

He also sponsored all candidates to attend extra classes, enabling teachers to properly prepare the students for exams. The philanthropist added that the effort is his way of helping to raise the district's educational standards in an exclusive interview with A1 Radio during his distribution of the items.

"We are assisting our constituency's education through this program. According to the education directorate's checks I received, the success story increased by roughly 10% when we organized extra classes for the students, and they are expecting hitting higher levels this year. This has nothing to do with politics; it's only to help the children do well on the BECE exams," he said.

He, however, entreated all candidates to take their education seriously to become the future leaders they desire to develop the constituency and Ghana as a whole. Last year, Mr. Amoah made a similar donation to 659 BECE candidates, and he also promised to provide scholarships to 10 deserving students to further their education up to the tertiary level through the Silas Amoah Foundation. True to his word, Mr. Amoah revealed that 13 students who performed exceptionally well in the last BECE will receive scholarships.

According to Mr. Amoah, the scholarship, which is expected to last for a decade or more, will produce medical doctors, engineers, and other professionals in line with Ghana’s quest to attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, and 8, which aim at reducing poverty, ensuring zero hunger, and creating decent jobs.

Mathew Silas Amoah received applaud from George Asira, the director of education for Bolgatanga East District, for his ongoing endeavors to raise educational standards in the area.

"We need people like him who can show up and provide both material and emotional support for our children. It is an incredible thing to do if he has publicly stated that he will support these children for the next 20 years, depending on how well they perform. Since education is a shared responsibility, I think we should be able to contribute to this purpose, and it should be able to inspire more people," he continued.

The director urged candidates to overcome their fears, write their exams, and pass with flying colors.
