Bimbilla College of Education students abandon campus as CETAG strike continues.

Students at Bimbilla College of Education in the Northern Region are being forced to leave campus as the CETAG strike continues, leaving them stranded and with few options.

Speaking to Citinewsroom, the students expressed frustration and apprehension about their academic futures.

CETAG began the strike on June 14, 2024, due to the government's delay in implementing an arbitral award and negotiating service conditions. Despite the National Labour Commission's order to end the strike, CETAG is still advocating for their grievances to be resolved.

The strike has halted all academic and administrative activities, causing a significant disruption to the academic calendar. Final-year students are concerned about the impact on their September graduation, while first-year students fear the strike's impact on their education.

Some students have taken the initiative to prepare for end-of-semester exams through private studies. They are hopeful for a quick resolution, as CETAG and the government are scheduled to meet on August 6, 2024, to address the strike.
