University of Ghana Opens Portal for 2024 Medical Physics Admission -Apply
The University of Ghana (UG), Legon School of Nuclear & Allied Sciences has opened 2024 Medical Physics admission portal and inviting applications from all qualified and interested applicants.
Why offer Medical Physics at UG?
The Department of Medical Physics at UG provides high quality education and training in Medical Physics (MPhil and PhD) and Nuclear Science and Technology Programme (MPhil).
The International Atomic Energy Agency has accredited the Department as a Regional Designated Center (RDC) for Medical Physics Academic Education in Africa.
The Department collaborates with centres such as the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine (Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital), the Oncology Directorate (Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital), the University of Ghana Medical Centre, and the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre to offer comprehensive medical physics training.
Available Programmes
The programmes available for offer are in two (2) folds. The MPhil. in Medical Physics and the PhD. in Medical Physics.
MPhil. Medical Physics
• A 2-year program comprising didactic lectures, research work, and clinical practicals.
• Exposes students to the principles in the disciplines of medical physics.
• prepares students for a hospital-based clinical program (internship).
PhD. Medical Physics
• A 4-year program comprising didactic lectures, research work, clinical practicals, and experiential learning.
• Offers students advanced and specialized training in the sub-fields of medical physics.
• trains students for positions in academia, research, and/or clinical practice.
