UCC Academic Policy on Withdrawal and Dismissal from the University

The Directorate of Academic Affairs of the University of Cape Coast explained that a student may voluntarily withdraw from the university or may be officially dismissed or withdrawn from the university for academic and non-academic reasons. 

According to the information available on the university’s portal, UCC.

Prospective student must:

1. Pass all courses taken (obtain Grades A–D).

2. Attain a minimum C.G.P.A. of 1.0.

Students with a GPA below 1.0 at the end of the first semester shall be cautioned by the Director (Academic Affairs) and counseled by the Departmental Academic Advisor and/or University Counseling Centre. 

 Dismissal

A Level 100 student who loses a total of twelve (12) credits registered for an academic year (either in the first, second, or both semesters) will be dismissed for poor academic performance. Such a student may, however, re-apply for admission into a different program the following academic year.

Voluntary Withdrawal

1. A student who withdraws voluntarily from a program may re-apply for admission at a later date.

2. A student may be dismissed or rusticated for academic and non-academic reasons.

3. A student who is dismissed on disciplinary grounds will not be considered for re-admission at a later date. 

4. A student who withdraws on academic grounds may reapply for admission.
