The 25Th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board recently made adjustments to the nomination lists after a one-week period for reviewing and correcting errors and omissions. Initially, some artists expressed disappointment when their popular songs were not nominated in the expected categories.
In response, the board allowed a grace period for artists and stakeholders to address any grievances. Numerous submissions were received during this time.
In this regard, both artists’ management clarified that “Lonely Road” was a collaborative effort rather than a featured work. The board acknowledged this and updated some changes to the nomination accordingly.
Accordingly, the board reconsidered Amerado’s song “Kwaku Ananse” remix, nominating it in the Best Highlife Song category instead of its original version. This decision impacted its consideration for the Most Popular Song of the Year category.
However, after a thorough review, it was determined that the original version met the criteria for the Most Popular Song of the Year category and was subsequently nominated.
In the press statement, the board emphasized its commitment to fairness and transparency in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards scheme, ensuring that all nominations accurately reflect the contributions and achievements of the artists.
