Popular Nollywood actor John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, reportedly passed away, aged 62.

John Okafor disclosed in October 2023 that he had a condition that might require him to amputate one of his legs. He stated that while working with other Nollywood actors and actresses on a movie set, he became aware of the issue.
In order to pay for his medical expenses, he made an appeal to his followers and the general public for financial assistance and prayers.
In addition, he uploaded a video of himself expressing his fear of losing his leg while laying in a hospital bed.
On October 18, 2023, the former Nigerian Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation paid for Okafor's entire hospital bill. The organization added that Okafor required a lot of financial support to be able to afford his stay in the hospital as well as his travel expenses to see doctors abroad for treatment.
Amputation of the leg
Okafor suffered from a disease that required seven surgeries, and in November 2023, he had his leg amputated. According to his family, the amputation was performed in order to prolong his life and improve his prognosis. But when his health got worst, he passed away on March 2, 2024.
According to Business Day, Ng reports that Mr. Ibu, a Nollywood veteran, died at the age of 62.
However, the veteran comedian, Mr. Ibu, passed away at Evercare Hospital.
