A man allegedly murders his son over food. 

A tragic incident occurred in Eziama Lokpaukwu, Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State, when Theophilus Udeh, 70, was taken into police custody for allegedly k!lling his son, Sunday, during an disagreement over food. 

 

In a statement issued on Wednesday, ASP Maureen Chinaka, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the devastating incident. She states that on February 26, 2024, a report was received by the Divisional Police Headquarters in Isuochi, indicating that Theophilus Udeh, a resident of Eziama Lokpaukwu Umunneochi, had shot and k!lled his 27-year-old son, Sunday Udeh, at their residence the day before. 

Police from the Isuochi Divisional Headquarters acted quickly after receiving the report, going to the crime the scene to retrieve the corpse of the deceased before bringing it to the mortuary for an examination. Evidence was also acquired, and Theophilus Udeh was later taken into custody. 

Since then, the State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the case in order to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the events leading up to the terrible tragedy. 

It was later revealed that Theophilus Udeh, who had skipped breakfast, came home hungry to discover that his child had eaten the last of the food in the cooking pot. Theophilus had intended to eat this supper, but the son was unaware of it.  

The discovery reportedly enraged the suspect, who then allegedly went to his room to get a gun and shot his son to death, k!lling him instantly.  

After the shooting, nearby members acted quickly to apprehend Theophilus Udeh. At the town square, they shackled his hands and laid him next to his son's lifeless corpse.
