The Ashaiman District Court has granted bail of GH¢5,000 to women who fought and bit each other mercilessly over the disposal of waste water at Nkansa, a suburb of Downtown Ashaiman.
According to Police Inspector Kwajo Danso, the two—41-year-old trader Obaa Yaa Annan and 25-year-old hairdresser Lydia Koomson—fought in public, tearing each other's clothes and hair and exchanging injuries from bites.
They are accused of disrupting the peace in the community.
However, the court, presided over by Mr. Derick Parden Eshun, after taking their pleas, granted the two persons bail after they pleaded not guilty to charges of disturbing public peace.
According to the case's context, the feud started out on August 7, 2023, at approximately 9:30 a.m. as a result of a disagreement between the two regarding how to properly get rid of wastewater.
After the two fought in public, causing injuries to themselves, Annan proceeded to the Katamanso Police Station to file a complaint. There, she was handed a medical forms that she needed to return to the hospital after receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, Koomson was subsequently arrested for investigation, which revealed both the initial complainant and the supposed perpetrator engaged in a fight in a public place to disturb other people's peace.
