A thief, who was caught in the act of stealing a chicken, was beat and forced to eat the raw chicken.
He was forced to eat the chicken raw after he was arrested in the act at Pumula suburb in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
The thief was alleged to be "desperate" after being caught, citing "January disease," a term used to describe the financial difficulty many people encounter at the beginning of the year after overspending throughout the holiday season.
His cries were met with indifference, and the hungry group demanded that he eat the stolen chicken or suffer a severe thrashing.
Reluctantly, the robber consumed the uncooked chicken in front of witnesses as several cellphone camera recorded the incident.
According to a resident of Bulawayo's Pumula suburb, B-Metro, "He would occasionally cough out a feather or two as he screwed up his face like someone swallowing the bitterest gall," with blood flowing from the corner of his mouth.
"In some way, the beatings got worse for him as he was eating the clearly unpleasant food to put an end to them. For the rest of his life, I believe he will never again eat chicken or white meat.
