Prof. Sarpong of UEW Appointed as Coordinator for ICHPER-SD in West Africa.

 Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Health, Allied Sciences, and Home Economics Education, University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has been named as the new Coordinator for the West Africa Zone by the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Sports, and Dance (ICHPER-SD). 

Professor Sarpong, who was recently chosen Coordinator, has been given the crucial responsibility of leading ICHPER-SD programs in the West Africa Zone. This entails leading the organization's actions as well as encouraging professional colleagues in the area to participate actively.  

One of the key responsibilities assigned to Professor Sarpong is to promote and assist in the establishment of ICHPER-SD branches in countries that fall under his authority. It is hoped that this move would strengthen the professional network in the West Africa Zone that is committed to promoting health, physical education, sports, and dance. 

Professor Sarpong acknowledged his appreciation for the appointment and promised to elevate ICHPER-SD's prominence in the area. "I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this important capacity, and I am committed to collaborating with colleagues to improve ICHPER-SD's visibility in West Africa. We want to significantly advance health, physical education, sports, and dancing throughout the region through our combined efforts," he said. 

Many people believe that under his leadership, the West Africa Zone will become a center for innovation and quality in health, physical education, sports, and dance because of his vast experience and track record. 

Professor Sarpong's appointment is evidence of the organization's dedication to promoting cooperation and bringing about constructive change in the industry. Expectations are high as he takes on his role, and the West Africa Zone hopes that his leadership will usher in a new phase of growth and development for the ICHPER-SD community. 

Prof. Emmanuel Osei Sarpong is a distinguished professional in the field of education, an accomplished exercise scientist, a certified football coach, and a recognized physical fitness instructor. His academic journey culminated in the attainment of a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Human Kinetics (Specialization in Sports and Exercise Physiology) from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. 

Presently, Prof. Sarpong holds the position of acting dean within the Faculty of Health, Allied Sciences, and Home Economics Education. Notably, he serves as Ghana's Ambassador to the International Trainers Course (ITK), a prestigious postgraduate program in sports medicine at the University of Leipzig in Germany. This role involves mentoring and training sports coaches and administrators to excel in their respective fields. 

Prof. Sarpong's vast studies portfolio is indicative of his devotion to making significant contributions to the discipline. His areas of specialization include sports injuries, nutrition, energy for physical activity, physical activity for health development, and sports performance.

 

Prof. Sarpong is involved in professional associations and holds affiliations with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), ICHPER-SD, the British Association of Sports and Exercise Sciences (BASES), and the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG). His dedication to remaining up-to-date with the most recent developments in education, sports science, and physical health is demonstrated by these memberships. 

Professor Sarpong is regarded as a pioneer in the fields of physical fitness, sports science, and education because of his varied responsibilities and extensive educational background. It is anticipated that his efforts and leadership will have a significant influence on these fields' progress on a national and worldwide scale.
