A man from Nigeria identified as Yusuf Bako, 50 years old, has been sentenced to life in prison for defiling a 4-year-old girl in a mosque.
Bako, who was earlier arrested in 2020, was accused of committing the insane crime during the COVID-19 lockdown.
According to the statement, he had previously been jailed twice for similar defilement offenses.
However, this was disclosed by the Director of Public Prosecution, Barrister Sha’awanatu Yusuf, in a chat with journalists on Wednesday, December 27.
She asserted that following inquiries from both sides of the case, Justice Sa'ad Zadawa of High Court No. 6 gave the jury's decision in late November of this year.
