Professor Ransford Gyampo, a senior lecturer in political science, has declared that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is committing political suicide by using his current campaign strategies.
In his view, the Vice President need to concentrate on offering substitute plans prior to the 2024 election, rather than disparaging the assurances made by his rivals.
In response to Dr. Bawumia's criticism of National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama's 24-hour economy promise, he made the following statement.
According to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Mr. Mahama fails to completely understand the policy that he is promising the people of Ghana.
He clarified that hospitals and fuel firms, among other places, are already implementing Ghana's 24-hour economy policy.
Prof. Gyampo stated on Accra's Neat FM that Dr. Bawumia has to fire his political strategist.
It appears that we are not learning from our political game. The more people oppose and condemn a policy, the more support it receives; this is what happened with free SHS.
The conversation about the 24-hour economy is now ongoing. Politics is an intellectual competition, so he ought to have put forward some alternatives," he said.
Prof. Gyampo further stated that while some services will operate 24/7, this is not a deliberate policy.
