University lecturer slapped and beat a female student after refusing to switch off her phone during class hour
Dr. Ariyo, a male lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun (Nigeria), is accused of attacking a student yesterday for reportedly refuses to switch off her phone during class.
According to reports, the young student and the lecturer from the Department of Electrical Engineering got into a fight during the lecture, which eventually resulted in a face-off.
The victim's friends shared a video of the lecturer verbally abusing the student and telling her to turn off the phone he was holding on social media.
In the video, the student was told to follow his lecturer's instructions, but he ignored them, so he had to physically take the phone out of her hand.
Other students screamed in amazement as Ariyo was spotted striking the undergraduate in the head with his fist stealing the phone from him.
When reached by phone, the institution's public relations officer (P.R.O), Abiodun Olarewaju, confirmed the reported physical attack and said that the administration had stepped in and invited the parties for an investigation.
