A tragic car crash on the Sunyani-Berekum Highway on Monday is thought to have killed five people.
According to information obtained by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the accident happened at approximately 1400 hours when a taxicab bearing the license plate BA GT 5591-12, traveling towards Nsoatre, struck an unregistered private salon car traveling in the opposite direction head-on.
The second driver, the only occupant in the private vehicle, is reportedly in severe condition. All five occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, were believed to have passed away instantly.
The bodies that had not yet been identified were removed from the scene by police and fire service officials and placed in a nearby mortuary for identification and preservation before the GNA arrived.
Investigations into the matter have started, a police officer at the scene told the GNA.
