Nollywood actor: Mr. Ibu's leg amputated—family confirms

An official health update on the renowned Nollywood veteran John Okafor, commonly known as Mr. Ibu, has been given by his family.

The actor's family has clarified his recent medical issues and acknowledged the rumors that have been circulating about his amputation of a leg.

The actor's family emphasized that he still needs assistance, especially because his other leg is still unstable.

To date, Mr. Ibu has had seven surgeries performed to address his medical conditions. The main reasons for the choice to amputate one of his legs were to save his life and improve his chances of making a full recovery.

The family has extended their sincere gratitude to everyone who has offered assistance during this difficult time.

Remember when in October, Mr. Ibu celebrated his 62nd birthday in a hospital, and a video showed the unsettling state of one of his legs? Fans and well-wishers had expressed worry after seeing this video.

The family of Mr. Ibu confirmed in a recent statement that one of his legs had been severed as a stopgap to stabilize his condition.

We continue to ask well-meaning Nigerians for assistance because Daddy is still in a very vulnerable stage and needs all the support he can receive.

The Okafor family is grateful of all of you and does not take you for granted. Thank you. As soon as he is stable, Daddy will personally thank everyone who helped throughout this time.

The public and fans have responded with well-wishes and with support to the news of Mr. Ibu's amputation and continued health issues.

It has also raised awareness of the lack of consideration and care shown to seasoned artists in Ghana's and Nigeria's entertainment industries.
