Hardline Muslims in eastern Uganda attacked two Christians for what they had said at a religious dialog, sending them to the hospital.
Speaking at a Christian-Muslim forum that Muslims hosted on November 13 in Bulumba town, Musa Kirongosa, 32, and Swidiki Buyinza, 27, of Nawaikoke, Kaliro District, were beaten for stating that "Truth is only found in Christ Jesus as the one and the only Savior for mankind."
Before the two Christians could finish, the irate Muslims in the room became unruly, forcing them to leave and hide at a Christian's neighboring house, according to Buyinza. When the area was cleared and silent around 7 p.m., two hours later, some Muslims hurried forward to block the road that led out of the region, and the two Christians decided it was safe to depart.
"We were stopped by Buruhan Musobya, a well-known Muslim extremist, and six other Muslims when we left around 7:30 on our motorcycle, just a few kilometers along the Nawaikoke-Bulumba road," Buyinza told Morning Star News. "Allah Akbar [God is Greater], these are the enemies of our prophet, Muhammad, and our religion," they started yelling. Kafir [Unbelievers]! Kafir!," according to Morning Star News.
According to him, the attackers destroyed their Bibles and other Christian books in addition to smashing their motorcycle.
Buyinza told Morning Star News, "After that, they started beating us extremely hard with blunt objects, which caused Musa's right leg to break." "As four more attackers beat and stepped on Musa as he lay down in the middle of the road, two of them grabbed me tightly and beat me with sticks."
"After hearing the conversation where things went crazy, one of the sheikhs came to see us in private in the hospital and said he has been a Christian seeker and intends to become a Christian," Buyinza stated. "Pray for the sheikh's deliverance, these extremist Muslims, and the payment of the medical bill." Even though we were defeated, we are aware that everything happens for the welfare of those who follow Jesus.
