Nigerian music star and award-winning artist Burna Boy has been named the best Afrobeats act at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BMAs).
Burna Boy triumphed over fellow artists Libianca, Rema, Tems, and Wizkid.

However, Rema’s Calm Down remix featuring Selena Gomez took home the prize for Top Afrobeats Song.
The ‘African Giant’ crooner beat stiff competition from Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Cameroonian star Libianca on his way to making history as the inaugural winner of the newly-created ‘Top Afrobeats Artiste’ category.
This awards honor outstanding achievements in the music industry, considering factors such as album and digital song sales, streaming numbers, radio airplay, touring success, and social engagement.
