50-year-old man shot dead at Odomi in Oti Region

Nov. 27, GNA, Dambai (O/R) – An unidentified assailant shot and killed a man at Odomi, in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region. The guy is believed to be in his 50s.

A short distance from his residence in Odomi, the deceased, identified as Kwabena Blakie Danso, was reported to have gone outside to answer nature's call when the assailants ambushed and started shooting at him.

This brings the total number of people shot dead in the area in less than a month during recent fighting between the Adele, Challah, and Akyode ethnic tribes to 14.

The gun attack follows the deployment of extensive security in Nkwanta Township and the Regional Security Council's decision to tighten the area's dusk-to-dawn curfew.

The shooting at Odomi, an agricultural hamlet, is thought to have been a retaliation strike from Nkwanta South after roughly 13 people were killed in similar circumstances, a source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

While the police have not officially commented on the incident, some town residents are leaving for safety.

Numerous locals told the GNA that they were unable to sleep well any longer because they were constantly afraid of being attacked again.
