KNUST lecturer officially advises teachers to leave the country for greener pastures - Dr. Akwasi Amakye Boateng

KNUST lecturer officially advises teachers to leave the country for greener pastures - Dr. Akwasi Amakye Boateng

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) senior political science lecturer, Dr. Akwasi Amakye Boateng, has advised Ghanaian teachers to consider seeking better working conditions abroad. He believes that Ghana’s teachers have often been neglected in terms of their welfare by successive governments.

He stated, "Years ago, people said the reward for a teacher was in heaven, but I tell you, their reward is in the western world," in an interview with Angel FM. The Ghanaian teacher is greatly needed in other countries. Teachers, get out of here before you perish, for they are becoming hard to find.

He added, saying, "The young people among us shouldn't stay here to be shamed; your reward is in the western world."

Dr. Amakye Boateng underlined that educators ought to be treated more fairly at home and be paid fairly for their labor. He brought up the fact that many Ghanaian teachers are having financial difficulties and partly blamed President Akufo-Addo's policies for this state of affairs. Due to this, there has been a notable teacher shortage in a country in recent years.
