The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the 2023/2024 academic calendar for basic schools and Senior High School (SHS).
ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR BASIC SCHOOLS
First Term
Schools will resume on October 3, 2023 and end on December 22, 2024. Students will then go on break from December 23, 2023, to January 8, 2024.
Second Term
The second term will resume on January 9, 2024 and end on April 11, 2024. Students will then go on break from April 12, 2024, to April 29, 2024.
Third Term
The third term will start on April 30, 2024 and end on July 25, 2024. JHS 3 students are expected to write their BECE in July 2024.
SINGLE TRACK ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR SHS
First Semester
Senior High (SHS 1): Students will be in school from December 4, 2023, to March 15, 2024. Vacation starts from March 16, 2024, to May 2, 2024.
Senior High School (SHS 2): Students will be in school from November 1, 2023, to March 5, 2024. Vacation starts from March 5, 2024, to May 2, 2024.
Senior High School (SHS 3): Students will be in school from November 1, 2023, to March 5, 2024. Vacation starts from March 5, 2024, to May 2, 2024.
Take NOTE: There is going to be a Christmas break from December 2, 2023, to January 2nd, 2024.
Second Semester
All students will resume from May 3, 2024, to August 28, 2024.
TRANSITIONAL ACADEMIC CALENDAR (DOUBLE TRACK)
First Semester
Senior High School (SHS 1): Students will begin the academic year on December 4, 2023, and end it on March 5, 2024. Students will then go on break from March 6, 2024, to May 12, 2024.
Senior High School (SHS 2): Students are to begin their academic year on March 8, 2024, and end on May 9, 2024, for the first semester. They will then go on break from May 10, 2024, to July 11, 2024.
Senior High School (SHS 3): Students will begin the year on January 2, 2024, and end on March 28, 2024. Students will break from March 29 to April 16, 2024.
Second Semester
Senior High School (SHS 1)
In school: May 13, 2024 to July 9, 2024 and break on July 10, 2024, to September 2, 2024. In School: September 3, 2024, to November 15, 2024.
Senior High School (SHS 2)
In School: July 12 to November 15, 2024
Senior High School (SHS 3)
In school: April 17, 2024, to August 23, 2024
