American rapper J.Cole allegedly informed Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, nicknamed Burna Boy, during a studio session that he is on the same level as the late hip-hop great Tupac Shakur.
On the most recent episode of the Elliott Wilson-hosted Rap Radar Podcast, Burna Boy made the assertion.
He said, "I don't really know the dynamics behind how everything transpired, but anyway I find up in the studio with J. Cole and a bunch of basketball players who are all tall as hell. Prior to [recording] any music, we all just talk about actual issues, such as life in general.
I personally find it difficult to talk to people who don't live with me. I don't typically engage in lengthy discussions like that, you know. I started to ramble as a result.
Before we begin recording, J. Cole just says, "Bro, this n*gga is Tupac. I turned to see who he was referring to and then. He is referring to me. He claims that this n*gga resembles Tupac who was reincarnated in Africa.
