In the Central Region of Ghana, in Mankessim, a 40-year-old tricycle (Aboboya) rider and scrab trader drowned after jumping into a river out of desperation (Hardship).
According to information acquired by Kasapa News, Yaw Boagyan, the deceased, Suleman, frequently lamented his difficulties and made many attempts at suicide.
Some people who spotted the incident said they saw him take off his dress near the flooded riverbank before they next saw him jump into the water.
They indicated that they believed he wanted to swim and would emerge later, but they never saw him again.
The incident happened on September 5, 2023, Tuesday.
After some hours, some local divers searched the river for the deceased, but they were unsuccessful.
The Community's Chiefs and Elders searched the river for several hours without success before offering libations to the gods in an effort to retrieve the deceased, but all their efforts were in vain.
However, the body of the deceased was found ashore on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
