A woman from Lusaka has been detained and accused of murdering her brother-in-law with a knife.
Rae Hamoonga, the spokeswoman for the police, reports that the crime was perpetrated on August 1st, 2023, by Catherine Sampa, age 38, of the Chawama compound.
He claims that when a worried neighbor heard disturbance coming from the suspect's home, they hurried over to investigate. When they arrived, they discovered the victim dead on the floor in a pool of blood with a deep slash on his neck.
According to Hamoonga, the neighbor subsequently reported the incident to Chawama Police Station, where officers investigated it.
He claims that after a physical examination of the corpse, a deep neck wound in the dead was discovered, and no object was discovered at the scene of the crime.
The victim's remains have been placed in the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary in anticipation of a post-mortem and burial, according to Hamoonga, who also notes that the reason for the murder has not yet been determined.
