UEW SRC Elections 2023: EC is not showing up for the declaration of final results
After individuals gathered to witness the declaration of the 2023 SRC general election, the UEW SRC electoral commissioner absconded from his responsibilities.
Despite the commission's officials having previously been present on campus, the EC was nowhere to be found.
The majority of those waiting for the EC to announce the results were Bismark Opoku supporters, and they were disappointed.
In a speech, the "OPK" team's leaders reassured their supporters that they had recorded results from 13 of the 15 polling stations and could thus affirm Bismrak Opoku's lead.
They further stated that they would go to all lengths necessary to uphold their authority and that they would oppose any oppressor's rule that attempts to alter the choice of the people as a whole.
Out of the 15 polling stations, we have conducted our own collation, and OPK is in the lead. We have collected 13 of the stations, and nothing indicates that the remaining 2 stations would reverse what we have found.
Although it is awful that the EC cannot be found to announce the results, we will resist any oppressor's rule. UEW deserves to be acknowledged.
Provisional results are supposed to be announced right away after the election, but it's devastating that the EC is unable to do that.
In the speech, they highlighted to their supporters that they would make every effort to persuade the EC to declare the elections.
We will make every effort to have the election declared by the EC. We will use all necessary diplomatic efforts to have the election declared. Team OPK is prepared for picketing, if necessary.
As audience members stage a walkout, the Amu theater, which was assigned for the declaration of the election, is now deserted.
The election declaration for 2023 has been nullified because the EC is nowhere to be found.
Some students remain awake and say they won't go to bed until the results are announced.
