Inusah Mubarick Kantama sweeps the most prestigious awards in the just-ended 2nd edition of Savannah Regional Basic School Sports in Bole.
Bole District hosted the 2nd edition of the annual Savannah Regional basic school sports under the theme improving the quality of education through sports in Savannah Region ".
A three-day competition that saw seven districts within the region compete for honors on August 23-26, 2023.
It was a very thrilling competition with lots of outstanding displays of footballing talents.
A look at what Mubarick Kantama did at the tournament
A very productive and consistent performance by a young prolific attacking midfielder, Inusah Mubarick Kantama, for team West Gonja when they ended the competition as first runners-up. The young player scored a hatrick in his side's opening match of the tournament, with the game ending in a 3:3 draw.
They eventually lost the game on penalties to STK District. Kantama put up another encouraging performance against North Gonja District when his free kick struck the crossbar and was turned into the goal by his teammate in a rebound follow-up. And there comes the semi-finals, where Mubarak Kantama rose to the occasion once again to score a brace and provide an assist to his teammate in his side's 3:0 win over East Gonja, taking the team to the grand finale.
Mubarick's team eventually lost 1:0 to the host Bole in a thrilling encounter at Bosec Park.
After the match, Inusah Mubarick Kantama was rewarded for his performances. He was adjudged the best player and goal king of the tournament, respectively.
