At the eastern region a Farmer Allegedly Butchered Over GHC 70 By Suspected ‘Wee’ Smoker
A 22-year-old farmer, Bright Keteku, has been butchered on the neck by a suspected wee smoker identified as Kwasi Odame over missing Ghc70 cash.
The incident occurred at Panto Village near Tinkong in Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region.
Speaking to Bryt News on his sick bed after regaining consciousness, the victim narrated that he returned from snail hunting at midnight of the fateful day (Wednesday) and noticed that his Ghc70 cedis had been stolen from his room.
He straight away suspected Kwasi Odame, who stays in the same neighborhood and is known for thievery since he has stolen his GHC20 before.
This created a heated argument between them, and in the process, Kwasi Odame allegedly inflicted a deep cutlass wound on his neck.
He became unconscious and fell to the ground in a pool of blood.
The suspect, aided by some unknown accomplices, carried the victim and dumped him in the bush.
However, he was discovered the next day in the afternoon battling for life in the bush and was rushed to the surgical unit of the Eastern Regional Hospital.
The young man regained consciousness on Friday after the deep cut was stitched.
The father of the victim, Yaw Asare, said the case has been reported to the Adweso District Police Command.
The suspect was arrested Friday and transferred to Adawso police for investigation.
