A heavily drunk man in his late 40s was rescued from a fire outbreak in his room in a house near Akro Technical SHS in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern region.
Mr. Godwin Ayertey left an empty cooking utensil on a gas cylinder fire for many minutes, sparking fire in the room, but was so intoxicated that he could not move out.
Timely intervention by some neighbors who saw smoke billowing from the room started a rescue operation before the arrival of firefighters from the Kpong Fire Station to his rescue.
He lost most of his valuables in the hall to the fire.
