Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba, a third-year student at the Tshwane University of Technology, is said to have been fatally stabbed by her lover.
Ngcebo Thusi is accused of stabbing the 20-year-old on February 2, 2023, in her student apartment in Pretoria's Ekhaya Junction.
When Ntokozo's friends were unable to reach her phone, they alerted security at her residence hall.
Ntokozo was found dead with many knife wounds to her upper torso when security personnel arrived at her home.
After further investigation, a male suspect was apprehended on a murder charge after the South African Police Service (SAPS) was informed.
Since he was the last person Ntokozo was seen with before she passed away, it is assumed that the suspect is their relationship.
It is thought that the lover killed her with a knife because she had cheated on him with a wealthy man, who now supports her extravagant lifestyle.
According to Colonel Dimakatso Sello, a police spokesperson, the deceased was partying on Wednesday with her boyfriend's friends, and the friends all went their own ways that night.
"The victim was discovered dead the following morning with stab wounds to the neck. The cops have detained the ex-boyfriend to question him. The inquiries go on, said Sello.
Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba, 20, was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend on 2 February 2023 in her student residence in Ekhaya Junction, Pretoria.
