Ghana Police arrest 4th suspect in connection with Kasoa mobile money robbery [Watch Video]

The Central Region robbery attack on a mobile money agent in Kasoa resulted in the arrest of the fourth and final suspect, according to the Ghana Police Service.

On December 20, 2022, four robbers are accused of shooting the momo agent—as they are known—in the head with a pump-action rifle hid inside a diaper bag before fleeing with an undisclosed sum of money.

Initial police inquiries and intelligence gathering resulted in the recovery of the weapon and the arrest of three suspects: Michael Otu, alias Rider, Godfred Okine, and Asaa Faisal, alias Commander, who was identified as the robbery's mastermind on December 30 by the other suspects. The fourth suspect remained at large until his capture today.

The fourth suspect, identified only as Ahmed, alias Arrested, was apprehended following persistent police intelligence, according to a police service update, and "is currently in police custody aiding with investigations and will be presented before court accordingly."

Godfred Okine, one of the suspects, tragically passed away soon after he had complained of being unwell and had been rushed to the hospital. He passed away while receiving treatment, and his body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The update also stated that "the court remanded the two other suspects who were also detained in connection with the case to reappear on January 12, 2023."
