A wife and husband arrested by the police in Lagos State for allegedly battering two adopted children, ages 5 and 2.
Following complaints from neighbors, the police detained the woman identified as Busola Oyediran and her partner, Akebiara Emmanuel, on Friday, January 13.
The authorities had been informed by the children' adopted parents' ongoing physical mistreatment of them by their worried neighbors.
Following the report, the police barged into the couple's Egbeda/Idimu residence and arrested them into custody.
Later, the police went to the hospital where the neighbors had taken the battered kids for medical attention.
When questioned, the children's mother said they fell off a motorcycle and were seriously hurt.
The state police command's spokeswoman, SP Benjamin, confirmed the couple's arrest to the media and stated that they are currently being held in custody and will be charged in court by Monday, January I6, if not before. He stated that the children's father has been informed.
