Cletus Avoka, the MP for Zebilla, has declared his resignation from the assembly and made clear that he will not contest for reelection in 2024. He expressed gratitude to his constituents for the chance to serve.
During an NDC Youth Wing meeting and dinner ceremony in Zebilla, Mr. Avoka, who has run in every parliamentary election for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Zebilla Constituency (previously Bawku West Constituency) and has won six times and lost twice, said this.
"I would have done in Parliament for 24 years at the end of 2024. I want to used this opportunity to express my gratitude to my formerly Bawku West and current Zebilla constituents. You've been so supportive and altruistic toward me, and you have placed your trust in me. So, I made my decision I won't contest for office again after 2024. At the event, he declared, "I'm leaving parliamentary elections and might do something different.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Zebilla Cletus Avoka, has been a longstanding member of the NDC and MP. He won the parliamentary elections of 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2020. In 2004, he lost the seat to John Ndebugre Akparibo and in 2016, he lost it again to Frank Fuseini Adongo. He has served parliamentary leadership and as a Minister.
