Denu-Torkor Lagoon, Fishing Ban by the Ketu South Security Council.

The Denu-Torkor Lagoon is currently off-limits to economic activity, including fishing, according to the Ketu South Municipal Security Council (Adafienu concession).

The Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) meeting conducted on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, according to a statement from the Municipal Chief Executive, Maxwell.K. Lugudor, reached the conclusion.

"The recent drowning of a 77-year-old woman, whose preliminary investigations suggested that she perished in the lagoon near Laklevikope, justified the ban,"

The woman in question, according to family sources, has an underlying medical problem that makes her leave home without telling anybody until a search is undertaken for her. This condition persisted until her lifeless body was discovered on December 26, 2022, in a lagoon close to Laklevikope, beyond the area where Seven Seas Salt Ltd. had built the dikes.

"Avoid performing any fishing or human activity in the lagoon until such time as such activity is sanctioned by the Municipal Security Council of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly," the message cautioned the public.

A unified security team would be searching for anyone or any organization found to be disobeying this order, the statement said.
