For the purpose of starting their work, over 3,000 teachers in and around Bawku are in need of protection, according to the Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).
According to GNAT, because of the local dispute, security agents must transport these teachers back and forth multiple times.
Ivy Betur Naaso, the regional chairperson for GNAT, made the decision during an interview with Alfred Ocansey on 3FM's Sunrise on Wednesday.

Sunrise was being informed by the Chairperson as to whether or not teachers had quit their jobs due to the unrest in Bawku.
On September 19, 2022, some youths opened fire and killed a teacher. The teacher was struck by the gunshot as he was traveling to school.
