Peace Return to Bawku after Shooting Incident
Following the Monday shooting deaths of three persons, calm has returned to several areas of Bawku.
A persistent chieftaincy quarrel has been implicated as the cause of the tragedy.
Despite the relative tranquility, a resident who is a businesswoman and mother told Citi News that they are still unable to engage in social or commercial activities because they are constantly afraid of being attacked.
Because of what happened the day before, she explained, "everyone is just inside."
Power has since been restored to the affected areas that lost it owing to the shooting, according to Eugene Odei Addo, Upper East Area Manager of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company NEDCO.
He did, however, say that should things get worse, his organization would decide to protect its officers on the grounds.
The majority of my people deal in that unstable zone, which is "our main challenge," he said.
However, Mr. Odei asserted that his organization would continue to run in Bawku.
We believe that staying there right now is preferable, but if it becomes necessary for us to withdraw, we will do just that, he added.
