The recent out break of disease called Monkey Pox
Five instances of Monkey Pox Disease have been confirmed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in three districts of the country.
These are the three regions that confirm Monkey Pox cases
Eastern, Western, and Greater Accra are the three regions.
Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director-General of GHS, announced this at a news conference on Wednesday.
According to him that no deaths have been reported so far, and none of the afflicted people are in serious condition.
"Since May 24, 2022, a total of 12 suspected instances have been probed, one of which was reported in a Ghanaian who traveled to the United States of America," he said.
Dr. Kuma-Aboagye warned that while there is currently no therapy for Monkey Pox, vaccines are available, albeit they are not available in Ghana.
"However, I do not believe we have reached a point in Ghana where we will demand vaccination." "The cases that were documented were mild to severe," he explained.
Fever, body aches, chills, and weariness are the most common symptoms, but people with more serious infections may develop a rash and lesions on the face and hands that can spread to other areas of the body.

He explained that the sickness could be infectious before the symptoms are fully manifested,
In that case, people should avoid direct contact with others once they have manifested those symptoms.
As a result, he has recommended members of the public to go to the nearest hospital if they are feeling unwell or have skin rashes.
