NUGS: ARE DEMANDING FOR THE INCREMENTS OF THE STUDENTS LOAN FROM GHS3000 TO GHS 5000
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) is advocating for an increase in the amount of money paid to students in the form of loans from the Students Loan Fund (SLF).

According to the association, the loan amount offered to students to help them pay their fees should be increased from GHS3000 to GHS5000.
The president of NUGS, Master Denis Appiah Larbi, made this call in response to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's inauguration of the No Guarantor Loan Scheme on Wednesday, June 9, 2022.
On Friday, June 10, 2022, he appeared on the Ghana Yensom morning show, hosted by Kwame Obeng Sarkodie and broadcast on Accra 100.5 FM
He said that the raise will help students cope with the country's economic difficulties.
He claimed that the loan should be increased in line with the country's economic status.
"Because of the increase in fees, there is a need for an increase in the loan granted to students," he stated.

He urged the government to hold off on charging interest on the loans until the recipients had completed their schooling.
