BOLGATANGA, IN THE UPPER EAST REGION -NATIONAL SECURITY LEADS HIGH-POWERED DELEGATION TO CONDUCT SECURITY

Mr Kan Dapaah, the National Security Minister, led a delegation of key stakeholders from the country's security apparatus on a tour of the Upper East Region to conduct security assessments in order to improve counter-terrorism operations and respond adequately to the sub-growing region's terrorism threats.
Edward Asomani, Deputy National Security Coordinator; Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah, Chief of Army Staff; Air Vice-Marshal Frank Hanson, Chief of Air Staff; and Brig. Gen Moses Mohammed Aryee, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Northern Command were among the dignitaries who accompanied the Minister.
They toured the XI Mechanised Battalion's barracks and certain Forward Operating Bases, inspecting ongoing work to harden security installations and Forward Operating Bases that are likely to be targeted during terrorist assaults, given terrorist groups' tactics in neighboring countries.

In his meeting with security forces, the National Security Minister emphasized the necessity for increased surveillance in the region, particularly within border settlements, given the southern push of terrorist groups operating in the Sahel region.
He praised the security services' efforts in defending the country from terrorists and violent extremists infiltration, and reaffirmed the Ministry of National Security's commitment to supporting ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
