Abdulai Abanga, Member of Parliament for the Upper East Region's Binduri Constituency, has pledged Ghc 110, 000 to support 95 tertiary students in the area.
According to the MP, the effort is part of the "Binduri Must Develop" program, which aims to enhance and develop the area's human capacity.
"I have spent a total of one hundred and ten thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 110,000) to support 95 students pursuing various programs of study at tertiary institutions around the country," the MP, who also serves as the Deputy Works and Housing Minister, said on A1 Radio's Day Break Upper East broadcast. This is aimed at bolstering my constituents' human resources so that they may make meaningful contributions to the community.
"Many others are likely to benefit from similar shipments in the coming days," he said, emphasizing that the package represented the first group of recipients. This initiative is open to all Binduri residents, regardless of political affiliation, with a focus on women, individuals with disabilities, and students pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) degrees."
He went on to say that the effort was also a dream come true for him because one of the main missions that drew him to politics was to improve the human capability of his constituency.
"I am pleased to see that a significant number of students will pursue programs in medicine, pharmacy, and engineering, among other fields." Education is the single most critical investment a country can make in people's lives in order to achieve equitable and long-term growth."
However, he urged stakeholders, particularly traditional authority, to embrace the agenda in order to achieve growth in the region.
"I'd want to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the recipients and wish them luck in their academic endeavors." I strongly advise you to focus on the reason you are in school; study, study, study! I am confident that you will all receive honors diplomas. Go out and make Binduri, your families, and yourself proud."
