According to Time and Date, the partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 3:27 a.m. on May 16, followed by the full eclipse at 4:29 a.m.
The Blood Moon's red hue is predicted to be visible starting at 4:11 a.m.
The maximum eclipse is expected to happen roughly 40 minutes later, at 5:11 a.m. The unique event is projected to end at 5:53 a.m., so those who are committed to watching it all the way through are in for a long night.
However, if you live in London, you'll be disappointed to learn that the maximum eclipse will occur after the Moon has gone below the horizon.
Don't worry, though; much of the eclipse's build-up and final stages should be visible — weather allowing – and you have other possibilities as well.
In 2022, the first lunar eclipse will occur on May 15 or 16, depending on your time zone.
