In Bolgatanga, a suspected thief was beaten to death.
A young man, possibly in his twenties, was battered to death. His body was then dumped on the library road in Bolgatanga, between the Abilba No. 2 Junior High School and the Awugya Primary School.Residents in the region believe the crime occurred late last night, but the perpetrators are yet unknown.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service, which sent his remains to a regional hospital for preservation, identification, and family collection, confirmed that he died as a result of lynching. As a result, the police warned the people to refrain from committing acts of swift justice because it was illegal.
According to, Chief Superintendent Richard Salifu Anaba, the Bolgatanga Municipal Police Commander, who led the police squad to the scene, stressed that any suspected thief should be reported to the police.
"After investigating the body, we discovered cutlass cuts and other injuries." We can deduce that he is or was suspected of being an armed robber, which is why he was lynched to death."
"Based on what we've seen, it's possible they lynched him elsewhere, killed him, and dumped him here." If this was the location where he was murdered, it would have been disturbed. We don't believe in instant justice or lynchings. He told the media, "We always emphasize that if there are circumstances like that, just hand him over to the police to investigate."
Residents and passers-by were hesitant to report the incident to police officers because of the lengthy procedures that would follow.
However, Chief Superintendent Mr. has asked the people not to be afraid to report lynching cases to the police because the procedure is simple and will assist the officers in their work.
